Mitzah

Mitzah by Dior is an amber spicy fragrance for women & men (unisex), launched in 2010 as part of the La Collection Privée Christian Dior. It was created by François Demachy and is inspired by Mitzah Bricard, Christian Dior’s legendary muse and close confidante. The vibe is “golden oriental spice wrapped in honeyed incense, rose, and rich amber”: mysterious, luxurious, warm, and unmistakably vintage-inspired.

The fragrance opens with a striking combination of coriander, pepper, and cinnamon, creating a dry, spicy warmth from the first spray. The spices feel refined rather than aggressive, immediately giving Mitzah its rich oriental personality.

As it develops, the heart becomes darker and more resinous with rose, honey, and incense. Rose adds a soft floral elegance, while honey brings a golden sweetness. Incense introduces a smoky, balsamic character that gives the fragrance its mysterious depth and prevents the sweetness from becoming gourmand.

The dry-down is deep, warm, and enveloping. Amber, patchouli, labdanum, and vanilla create a dense resinous base, with patchouli adding earthy darkness and labdanum reinforcing the leathery-amber character. Vanilla smooths everything into a rich, sensual finish. The overall effect is luxurious, spicy, smoky, and exceptionally elegant.

Mitzah is best suited to fall, winter, and cool evenings, especially for formal occasions, elegant dinners, special events, and dressed-up nighttime wear. It is particularly appealing if you enjoy amber, incense, honey, and oriental spices rather than fresh or aquatic fragrances.
